Register for 2024 Summer Arts Programs
Full and half-day summer programs of Dance, Drama, Music, Art, and Choreography for ages 3-14. Every session is different so you can register for the whole summer.
Preschool Summer Arts for ages 3-5
8-11 a.m.
Week 1 June 24-28, 2024
Week 2 July 1-5, 2024 (This session will be prorated for the July 4 holiday.)
Week 3 July 8-12, 2024
Week 4 July 15-19, 2024
Week 5 July 22-26, 2024
Week 6 July 29 - August 2, 2024
Each 1-week session costs $260 and will take place at the SMAPA studios. No before- or after-care available. If you need to withdraw before the session starts then we can either refund $200 or credit your SMAPA account $260. The credit is good for one year and can be used for any other camp session or dance class during the year.
All students must be potty trained. Each session includes dance, music, art, and pretend play around that week’s theme. More FAQs below.
Prime Time Summer Arts for ages 6-14
10 a.m. - 5 p.m.
Session 1: June 24 - July 12, 2024 (This session will be prorated for the July 4 holiday.)
Session 2: July 15 - August 2, 2024
Each 3-week session costs $1,170 and will take place at the SMAPA studios. No before- or after-care available. If you would like to set up a payment plan to pay in installments, please email info@smapa.org. If you need to withdraw before the session starts then we can refund $1,000 or credit your SMAPA account $1,170. The credit is good for one year and can be used for any other camp session or dance class during the year.
Students will take classes with teaching artists in Hip Hop, West African Dance, Drama, and Choreography. Then, as a group they will work together to create a show. There will be break times for “Chat and Chew” where students can eat and socialize together with their counselors. Friends and family are welcome to come to the students’ live performance of their show on the last day of the session.

Dance Intensive – Intermediate/Advanced Ballet & Modern for ages 13 and older
The Dance Intensive is designed to give intermediate to advanced level students an opportunity to hone their technique in a non-competitive, daily intensive format. The 1-week session includes 3 classes per day in Ballet, Pointe, Modern, Core Strength, and Contemporary Choreography.
Students must have at least 4 years of Ballet experience.

PRESCHOOL SUMMER ARTS FAQs
All children must be toilet trained – no diapers or pull-ups, please.
What do students wear? Comfortable clothing (t-shirt, leggings, shorts, leotard) and bare feet
Are lunches or snacks provided? Children should bring a healthy, nut-free snack from home in a bag labeled with their name.
Are all camp sessions the same? No. Each week includes different activities based that week’s theme.
Do children need previous dance training in order to participate? No dance experience is necessary. All classes are designed to build skills and stimulate creativity.

PRIME TIME SUMMER ARTS FAQs
AGE REQUIREMENTS: Students must be at least 6 years old or entering 1st Grade in September.
What do students wear? Comfortable shorts and a t-shirt are suggested. No jeans.
What shoes are needed? Students should have sneakers for Hip Hop classes. All other dance classes will be barefoot.
What clothes are needed for the final performance? Generally the students wear black or navy blue bike shorts, regular shorts, skorts or Capri pants with a bright solid color T-shirt (no decorations). Additional costume pieces may be needed based on each individual group dance project.
Are all camp sessions the same? No. During each session the group creates a unique show with different songs, dramatic pieces, and group projects.
Do children need previous dance training in order to participate? No. All dance classes are basic level and designed to build skills and stimulate creativity.
Are lunches or snacks provided? Students must bring a nut-free lunch from home in a bag labeled with their name. Refrigeration is available. A second nut-free snack should be provided from home and packed separately from the lunch bag. All snacks and lunches MUST BE NUT-FREE!
How is the day structured? Students will be divided into groups by age. Each age group participates in 4 classes per day, separated by lunch or a snack.

AUGUST DANCE INTENSIVE (ages 13 & up) FAQs
Each dancer should bring proper dance attire for Ballet and Modern class, a reusable water bottle, and hair tie if needed to pull hair back.
