Dear Friends,
Over the course of my entire life, which spans 75 years, I have witnessed in one way or another, man’s inhumanity to man. At times it has been both terrifying and frustrating, but ultimately revealing the enormous strength within the human spirit to survive, and even thrive.
Generation after generation, in different ways, has sought to end systemic racism and social injustice. The objective has always been to right the inherent wrongs in our society that have existed for years, even centuries.
The recent tragic deaths of black men and women have rightfully triggered outrage, but have also sparked an uprising of positive, peaceful protest for much needed change - not only in our country but around the world.
Young people today have the empathy, the awareness, the understanding and the energy needed to get things done – to utilize the system in order to change the system. SMAPA stands committed to supporting their efforts in fighting for equal justice under the law.
These tragic events have certainly touched our souls, but they have not dampened our spirit.
